A Tribute to Sadie

Today is very sad day for the Butnick family. Our little girl Miss Sadie had to be put down, as she was battling kidney failure. It was all very sudden. She was in for her yearly exam just 3 weeks ago and they told me her kidney levels were high. They also test a new lump she had and they couldn't tell us it was fatty this time and they were very concerned about it and recommended we have it removed and sent into lab. She had surgery on Tuesday May , and a week later she was back at the vet again as she wasn't getting better from the surgery, they did tell us the 2 lumps they removed were cancer. They re-ran the blood test again and her kidneys were much worse than when she went in for surgery. Dr Heather from the Howard animal hospital said we should try to put her on IV fluids for 24 hrs and see if the levels come down.

They didn't, we took Sadie home with us Friday night. She wasn't doing well not eating not drinking, just laying around. She was coughing, and had diarrhea. Too see her not herself for almost a week made it really hard for us. Then to be told that those levels didn't come down and there wasn't anything they could do to make her better. Rob and I had to make one of the hardest decisions ever. We went to the vet when it opened up this morning we brought Sadie in. She was so week and her breathing was shallow. I was surprised to see she made it through the night.

We buried her out by Rob's parent’s house. Her resting place is next to the tree by the pond.

All dogs go to heaven.....
Sadie was born on January 10th 2001 and we adopted her in March of 2001 eight weeks old. Rob and I were just recalling some of the good times with her today. He reminded me how the only reason we got Miss Sadie was because of him and our friend Jayme.

Those of you that knew her know what a sweet heart she was. She had a loveable personality, loved to great everyone that came to the house and if you had carrots she was your best friend :o)

She loved to be with her family, at home, up north, were ever we went she did. She was our baby for the last 8 yrs. Some of things we will never forget about Sadie is how loyal she was to us. If I needed Rob and was in another room I could tell her "go get your dad" and she would run to the other room and bark at Rob till he would come out by me. Or either one of us would sneeze and how she would bark like she was blessing us or warding off the evil demons that brought on the sneeze :o)

She would grab her baby (her big bunny) and shake it up when we would sneeze, or the phone rings, or Rob blowing his nose. She also had a very caring side of her too that she would clean that baby’s feet at night before bed. She would have been a good mom.
We are going to miss her very much. We know she is in a better place, and getting lots of love and carrots.
